Like many others we have met on the road we had a dream to jump in a RV and cross every state line, see every national park and spend the time together full-filling that dream. Sometimes things don’t go as planned.

The Why

We are not new to RV life – I grew up in a family of camping in tents, travel trailers and touring the Pacific Northwest in motorhomes. When we started out we rented a few RVs and then had two Grand Design Momentums that carried us through our adventures. We later decided that the timing for RV life was still to come and we sold our 43ft toy hauler.

Realizing how much we missed what we had, we decided not only was now the time but we wanted to be “full time” and went in search of our new home. Ryan had always wanted a Tiffin Motorhome but Sarah was not a fan of the non-towables so it seemed we had found the perfect 5th wheel. It was produced by Vanleigh which is a company founded by Van Tiffin and Leigh Tiffin. We found our compromise. Tiffin quality in a towable unit.

We have always been documenters of our lives, be it our children, our activities, or our family and have owned film businesses in the past. With the history of always having a video camera in hand RV life was approached no differently.

Everything we have done from our search for our new rig, the build at the plant, our constant repairs and the course for correction was caught on video and audio. Our journey has been one of headaches and heart breaks in an industry that doesn’t have the best reputation for quality. Our journey was also coupled with a difficult time in our country in which parts and labor were hard to come by and often used as a reason units like ours exist.

The issues we have had with our Beacon; from replaced roof & decking from cabinets and walls being built too tall, to frame flex with broken frame on two occasions anddelamination on slide walls and about everything in between amongst non stop water intrusion. We have so much to tell about the experience that a times has left us in the same state of our RV…. BROKEN.

We started our RV journey in 2019 and have traveled over 50k miles between our three fifth wheels. 2021 brought a new set of experiences for us selling our home and going full time in our Beacon and has been a bumpy road.

We are blessed to have each other and the support of our family and friends as we continue our journeys.
